Unidentified looters have returned last Friday’s looted items to some locations in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
DAILY POST reports that some of the looted items were specifically discovered around some worship centres, including churches and mosques and suspected to have been dumped by the unidentified looters over the fear of arrest.
Some items wer found in Zango, Tanke, Adeta-Pakata, Jagun-Okelele quarters, all in Ilorin metropolis.
Recall that the state Police Commissioner, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, had promised at the last Monday press conference while parading the 144 suspected looters that, “those who surrendered their stolen items would be forgiven and saved from prosecution.”
He advised them to surrender the looted items to any of the chiefs of the security agencies in the state as the hunt for them intensifies.
In a phone chat with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Wednesday, the spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development.
He said operatives of the command have been recovering the dumped stolen items and warehousing them at the police headquarters in Ilorin.
Okasanmi said the police commissioner will address the press at the appropriate time.
DAILY POST recalls that hoodlums last Friday, attacked some public and private properties in Ilorin, including the Cargo Terminal, Agro Mall, ShopRite, Femtech, and Fonemat, among others, carting away foodstuffs and other valuables worth millions of naira under the guise of the End SARS protests.
