Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has reiterated the present administration’s resolve to honour every outstanding corps member serving in the State.
The Governor commended the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and its corps members for their outstanding performance and execution of life-changing personal community development projects in the state.
Ikpeazu who spoke shortly after presenting awards to five 2019 Batch B and C corps members in Umuahia, thanked the awardees for achieving the feat despite the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the corps members exhibited true resilience of the Nigerian youth.
Governor Ikpeazu who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barrister Chris Ezem, offered automatic employment to two ex corps members who performed excellently during their service year.
The corps members honoured by the Abia Governor were, Nyah Patrick S, Ogunlere Oluwetobi Mathew, Adeola Oluwagbemileke Samuel, Sebe Godspower Oghenemaroh and Babatunde Dolapo.
However, during the award ceremony, the Abia Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu lauded Governor Ikpeazu’s immense support and the State Honours Award Selection Committee for doing a good job
In her welcome address, the Abia State Coordinator, NYSC, Lady Bona Fasakin, expressed joy that the awardees were able to contribute their quota to the development of the state describing the gesture as the beginning of good things to come and commended the Governor for revitalizing the NYSC State Award, as well as the NYSC governing Board for their support throughout the 2019 service year.
On their part, the Awardees who spoke through Mr. Oluwatobi Mathew, in their vote of thanks, thanked the State Government for the honour, adding that they will continue to be good Ambassadors of the state wherever they find themselves.
