A journalist, Virgilio Maganes, has been murdered in the northern Philippines.
Two gunmen shot the 62-year-old on Tuesday.
A police release said Maganes was about to enter his home in Villasis, Dpa reports.
The police confirmed that he died on the spot. No identified suspects or motive yet.
The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP) said Maganes was the 18th journalist to be killed since President Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016.
Maganes, a radio commentator, survived an assassination attempt in November 2016.
NUJP said he survived “by playing dead’’ when assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire.
Organizations, including the Committee to Protect Journalists ranked the Philippines as one of the world’s most dangerous places for pressmen.
In 2009, 32 media personnel were among more than 50 people killed in an attack on a politician’s convoy.
