Niger State Government has constituted a thirty-four-member Government and Community Youth Leaders Relation Committee as part of its commitment to ensuring peace and security of people of the state.
Inaugurating the Committee in his office in Minna, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane said members consists of men of proven integrity and honesty.
He said the government is leaving no stone unturned in putting an end to the unacceptable wanton carnage and other security challenges in parts of the state.
“The present administration attaches great importance to the security of lives and property of the citizenry.”
He explained that effective protection of lives and property of all citizens at all times is the fundamental constitutional responsibility of any responsible government.
The SSG enjoined members of the Committee to put hands on deck to fashion out strategies that will bring lasting solution and forestall any breach of security in their areas and State at large.
The Committee’s terms of reference, Matane said, ” include coordinating the existing voluntary securities in communities, to assist law enforcement agencies in tackling social vices in communities, and to furnish the State Government through the Office of the Coordinator, Youth Empowerment and Mobilization with reliable feedbacks from your communities to avoid misguided information.”
The SSG then charged the new officials to discharge their duties with sincerity of purpose and diligence.
Responding on behalf of members, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the Coordinator, Youth Empowerment and Mobilization, Ambassador Umar Mohammed assured that the committee will ensure that all forms of criminal activities are reduced to the barest minimum within Minna and its environs.
He also pledged the readiness of his committee to discharge its responsibilities honestly and sincerely.
