President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the names of Chairman and Members of the Governing Council of Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC), and National Commission for Persons with Disabilities to the Senate.
The requests were contained in separate letters read on the floor during plenary on Tuesday by Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
Buhari requested the confirmation of Ityav Joseph Terfa as Chairman of HYPADEC.
His request was made pursuant to Section 3(2) of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission Act.
Nominated members are: Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa (Kebbi) as Managing Director; Isa Ozi Salami (Kogi) – member; Taoheed Daud Toyin (Kwara – member); Mikail A. Bmitosahi (Niger – member); Saleh Mohammed Galadima (Plateau – member); Aminu Muhammed Ganda (Sokoto – member); and Utum Eteng (Cross River – member).
Buhari also requested the confirmation of seven nominees as Chairman and members of the National Disabilities Body.
The nominees are Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa, Chairman (North West); Oparakau Onyejelam Jaja (South East); Philomena Isioma Konwea (South South); Omopariola Busuyi Oluwasola (South West); Amina Rahma Audu (North West); Esther Andrew Awu (North Central); and Abba Audu Ibrahim (North East).
However, the President sought the confirmation of Umaru Farouk Aminu as full-time Commissioner representing the North-West in the National Pension Commission.
