The 7th Trek Africa National Discourse and Awards (TAND) 2020 has come and gone but some unforgettable experience that has made indelible imprints on minds will continue. The event theme, Lofty Height Attain: Nigeria’s Call Beyond Covid-19 which took place at the prestigious Golden Gate, Ikoyi, Lagos over the weekend recognized the exemplary leadership style; excellent information delivery was full of thrills and a mixture of frills.
From the beautiful and well decorated red carpet to the exquisite ambiance of the hall got guests booming with smiles. Indeed it wasn’t a day job, but a lot of efforts had gone into the preparation for the ceremony. The thrills started with the opening remark by Mr. Oki Samson Project Director, TAND, and introduction of dignitaries spiced by amazing hosts, one of the hilarious comedians, Mr. Chidi Uzoma popularly known as Baba De Baba, the master storyteller and Theresa Moses.
The highly-engaging national discourse anchored by Oyelami Yomi, Editor, Trek Africa Newspaper was so educating. The participants bare it all as they speak their minds, offered fresh insight into issues, like a gypsy on a voyage of discovery, orientation and applaud the good work of the Nigerian police in protecting lives and property despite the #EndSars attacked by some hoodlums across the country.

As a police officer with a strong aversion for crimes profiting from the misery of innocent people, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIG), Zone 2 that comprises Lagos and Ogun states, Ahmed Iliyasu received an award for his exceptional professionalism, outstanding leadership and managerial skills which has uniquely impacted on the state and the society at large. As we know, Lagos has a special crime challenge especially the serial attacks of motorist stuck in traffic and more, Iliyasu was able to evolve special strategies to suit the need of Lagosians.
