Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has forwarded the name of a Commissioner nominee for the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport to the State House of Assembly.
DAILY POST gathered that the seat became vacant when Makinde terminated the appointment of Engineer Raphael Afonja who was in the position as of August 2020.
DAILY POST gathered that Makinde nominated Alhaji Lawal Ismail Ayansiju for the position at the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Governor forwarded the name of the new Commissioner to the State House of Assembly on Monday in a letter.
The Governor said the appointment was to fill the vacuum created in the Ministry since the termination of the appointment of Professor Raphael Afonja.
Makinde said, “I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, had been decided in the person of Alh Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis, the Rt Hon Speaker and other Honorable members are, therefore, requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as the Commissioner ”
Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin in his remarks said the screening of the commissioner-designate would be done before the House goes on recess.
Ogundoyin, thereafter, directed the Commissioner Nominee to appear before the legislature on the 14th of December, 2020 for screening.
