The Nigerian government has postponed the negotiation meeting earlier scheduled with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
The postponement was announced by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, on Wednesday.
The meeting between the federal government and ASUU was scheduled to hold on Wednesday, the 9th of December 2020.
However, no reason was given for the postponement by the ministry and no new date was announced.
A statement by Charles Akpan, Deputy Director in the Ministry reads: “The Meeting between ASUU and the Federal Government earlier scheduled for today (Wednesday) by 3pm has been postponed. Thank you for your understanding.”
Recall that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige had claimed that ASUU agreed to call off the ongoing industrial action.
ASUU has been on strike for about nine months.
