Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, on Wednesday thanked Istanbul Basaksehir’s assistant coach, Pierre Webo and striker, Demba Ba, for standing out during their side’s abandoned Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
Drogba also showed gratitude to Istanbul and PSG’s players for walking off the pitch following an alleged racial insult.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the match between PSG and Istanbul was abandoned after players from both sides walked off the pitch, alleging the fourth official, Sebastian Coltescu used a racial slur towards Webo, before he was sent off.
Reacting, Drogba, in a tweet via his Twitter handle, wrote, “Thank you @dembabafoot and @AchilleWebo for standing out and to the players for leaving the field#notoracisim @UEFAcom@FIFAcom@peaceandsport.”
Meanwhile, UEFA had rescheduled the Champions League game between PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir, after it was suspended on Tuesday night.
The game will be played with a different set of match officials on Wednesday with UEFA promising a full investigation.
