The Abia State Government has declared Friday, December 18, 2020, a public holiday due to the forthcoming local government elections holding in the state.
The state’s Honorable Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, made this known in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
According to him, movement of persons and goods shall be restricted within the state from midnight of Thursday, 17th December, 2020.
He however, revealed that only staff of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), security agents, media practitioners and others on essential duties will be exempted from the restrictions.
He also urged citizens and visitors to ensure that they maintain peace, law and order before, during and after the election.
