A foremost traditional ruler in Aba, Abia state, His Imperial Majesty, Eze Isaac Ajonu Ikonne has commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the construction of roads across the three senatorial zones in the state.
Eze Ikonne who stated this on Tuesday, in his palace, disclosed that shoemaking in Aba has been given a boost and rated grade one in Nigeria, courtesy of Gov. Ikpeazu’s Made-in-Aba campaigns.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the First-class Monarch described Aba as the commercial hub of the state with greater potential for more economic growth.
Eze Ikonne urged Governor Ikpeazu to focus more of his rehabilitation, developmental strides in Ariaria International Market, Cemetery Market, Ahia Ohuru Market among others, to further enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
“I call on aggrieved Abians to sheath their swords and support Governor Ikpeazu’s developmental strides.
“Governor Ikpeazu should also ensure that the remaining three years left in his second tenure be used to complete all the major projects of his administration”, he advised.
Eze Ikonne called for an improved welfare package for traditional rulers while maintaining that Governor Ikpeazu’s survival from COVID-19 was an answer to the prayers of traditional rulers in the state.
The Monarch, however, used the medium to thank God for 50 years he has stayed on the throne and further expressed joy on the recently commissioned Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for COVID-19 management in Aba.
