Hon. Michael Ibe Nwoke, the Executive Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has emerged the chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria,(ALGON) in the state.
Others that emerged as new executive members of ALGON are, Hon. Ifeanyi Madu (Deputy Chairman), Hon. Chimaobi Agbaeze(Secretary), Hon. Chinwendu Ochiulo(Treasurer) and Hon. Ugochukwu Njikonye(PRO).
This was announced in a terse press release signed by the Abia Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barrister Chris Ezem and issued to journalists on Thursday in Umuahia.
The news is coming barely two weeks after the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, declared candidates of ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winners of the recently concluded Chairmanship and Councillorship election conducted across the seventeen Local Government Areas of the state.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has, however, sworn in the newly elected chairmen of the 17 LGAs, charging them to ensure the dividends of democracy is brought home to the doorsteps of the people.
