The Ekiti State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Femi Ajayi has charged Data Collectors in the state to be upright in the discharge of their duties to achieve a more reliable and accurate data for proper formulation of government policies.
The Commissioner gave the charge while declaring open a day Capacity Building organized by the Ekiti State Bureau of Statistics
for Data Collectors in the State in Ado Ekiti.
According to him, data is used as the basis for government policy formulation and can also be employed to channel state limited resources for national development.
He reiterated the commitment of the present administration to strengthening the Ekiti State Bureau of Statistics by giving it necessary support that will aid its operations and efforts to provide useful, reliable and accurate data that the government can work on.
The Commissioner charged the participants to be abreast of events in data collection as the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led government has recorded numerous achievements that can be reckoned with.
In his contribution, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Planning, Statistics and Population, Mr. Michael Oguntimehin advised the participants to always keep records of events which according to him will be useful for them in the process of data collection.
He also charged them to develop the right attitudes to work and be proactive as these will be helpful in the course of discharging their duties.
The Acting Statistician-General of the Bureau, Mr Olugbenga Oni commended Dr Kayode Fayemi for strengthening the Ekiti State Statistical system.
He disclosed that the Bureau is digitalizing all her data in line with the open information policy of the government while the Bureau was partnering with a Non-Governmental Organization for an open portal which would digitalize the publications of the Agency for use by both government and the general public.
