The Nigerian military has released footage of how troops neutralized scores of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State at the weekend.
Ground troops and Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole attacked the fighters after they invaded an Army base in Marte.
Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, acting Director Defence Media Operations, confirmed that gun trucks were destroyed.
Onyeuko said troops positioned themselves “in an ambush site where they tactically withdrew to”.
Meanwhile, Major General John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operation, has provided an update.
Enenche recalled that the operation occurred on the night of 15 January through to the early hours of 16 January 2021.
“Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter gunships engaged the convoy of ISWAP gun trucks as they approached the Marte axis for reinforcement.”
He said choppers “delivered accurate hits in their multiple waves of attack, obliterating no fewer than 6 additional gun trucks, which were seen engulfed in flames across the battlespace”.
Enenche noted that “several other terrorists were mopped-up in follow-on attacks”.
The spokesman assured that the Armed Forces and other security agencies will sustain the offensive against the enemies of Nigeria.
