Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has bared his mind for the first time on the COVID-19 vaccine.
The cleric said there was nothing wrong with the vaccine, adding that it was the government’s way of seeking solutions to the pandemic.
The vaccine has been a subject of so much controversy and conspiracy, in Nigeria and beyond especially within Christian circles.
Recently, the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello told Nigerians to avoid the vaccine, claiming that it was meant to kill people
Nigeria is currently going through the second and more deadly wave of COVID-19 pandemic with an average of 1,000 cases daily being announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
Nigerian authorities have also announced that the vaccine will soon arrive in the country, promising that whichever vaccines that are approved by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 will be safe for Nigerians.
President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo will receive the vaccine on live TV, joining other world leaders such as Joe Biden, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, among others, who are encouraging their citizens to embrace its use.
“Concerning the ongoing situation in the world, I have received thousands of emails on the COVID-19 vaccine,” T.B Joshua stated in a special message broadcast on his Christian channel on Emmanuel TV.
“No doubt, there are many conspiracy theories surrounding this vaccine. However, my belief is that our governments are only trying to look for a way out of this very challenging situation, although there may be bad faith in certain quarters,” he acknowledged.
“Many people have complained of some negative reactions but this is always the case with vaccines of this nature. I remember I used to have such reactions whenever I took chloroquine,” he continued, citing his personal experiences.
“That does not mean chloroquine is bad. It works positively for many. At this time, our governments need our support and our cooperation – because the world is in a dilemma,” he concluded in his customary parabolic fashion.
