Omo Ghetto The Saga, a movie by stellar actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, has been declared Nollywood’s highest grossing movie of all time.
According to reports, the movie has broken a four-year record formerly held by Kemi Adetiba’s film, ‘The Wedding Party’.
In a statement released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, Omo Ghetto The Saga, has grossed N468,036,300 and still counting.
The movie, which is showing in cinemas around the world, has also held the number one spot for three weeks in a row.
“Omo Ghetto’ has officially broken a four years record by knocking off Kemi Adetiba’s 2016 Comedy movie, The Wedding Party.
The movie had been Nollywood Highest Grossing Movie with N453,000,000, in the third place is, The Wedding Party 2 with N433,197,377,” the statement said.
NAN also stated that Funke Akindele’s latest feat is shocking, considering the fact that the coronavirus pandemic crippled the movie industry for months.
The record-breaking movie was released on Christmas day 2020, and is a sequel to ‘Omo Ghetto’ released in 2010.
It features A-list actors including Funke Akindele, Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo among others.
