Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has given mechanics and motor spare parts dealers doing business in the streets of Aba till the 31st of May this year to move into the Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster.
Governor Ikpeazu gave the directive after inspecting the progress of work at the Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster, Aba under construction.
Ikpeazu said it will be impossible and illegal for the traders to continue to do business on the streets of Aba at the expiration of the deadline.
According to him, the greatest enemy of the newly constructed roads are mechanics and dealers on spare parts who mess up the roads with engine oil, fuel and other lubricants which reduce the life span of roads.
The Governor further revealed that the plan is to provide a place where traders and their customers would do business freely.
“I want to also state that my administration is working hard to provide a conducive business environment for the traders and spare parts dealers, and this industrial cluster will be provided with facilities such as Police post, Fire Station and banks designed to make life easier for traders and their customers,” he said.
The Governor further disclosed that expansion work has started on Opobo junction, while the government was working hard to realize Ngwa Road through Emelogu street and assured that the government would do all to make the cluster functional.
