The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Africa reached 100,294 on Friday.
Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided the figure. Coronavirus was first recorded on the continent in February 2020.
The agency said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa so far was 3,796,354.
South Africa reported the highest number of deaths – 48,708. The country is followed by Egypt, at 10,201, and Morocco, at 8,524.
The southern Africa region is the area most affected by COVID-19 in terms of confirmed cases.
Africa CDC added that a total of 3,346,404 infected people have recovered.
Nigeria has so recorded more than 150,000 cases and 1,800 deaths.
Globally, there have been 111 million cases of coronavirus and 2.45 million deaths.
