The Senator representing Ekiti South at the National Assembly, Chief Biodun Olujimi has expressed shock and grief over the death of a Flight Sergeant, Olasunkanmi Olawumi and other six Nigerian Air Force personnel on board the crashed military aircraft.
A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Beachcraft airplane crashed shortly after the perimeter fence of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Sunday, killing all seven persons in the plane.
Lamenting the tragedy, Senator Olujimi in a statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, called for a thorough and painstaking investigation into the cause of the crash of the aircraft which was en route Minna, the Niger State capital.
She described the death of Olawumi from her constituency; Ogotun Ekiti, in Ekiti West local government as unfortunate and shocking.
“Olawumi had an aged father who loved and doted on him. The father is a great leader of repute.
“The late Air Force officer was a great guy and jolly good fellow who was so devoted to his chosen career. May God accept his soul and grant him eternal rest.”
The Senator commiserated with all the families and friends of the deceased, the Ekiti State Government and Nigeria, for the untimely demise of Olawumi and other gallant officers who died in active service.
“May his soul and those of his six other colleagues rest in peace. Eternal rest grant them, oh Lord.”
