The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro promises better and quality security services in Lagos State.
Eweka stated this on Tuesday when he visited the Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Mrs. Folashade Jaji, in her office at Alausa, Ikeja. The Commandant was warmly received by the SSG and other members of her team.
The SSG on behalf of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the Commandant for his laborious effort towards ensuring improved security, since his resumption, in the state. They also had elaborate and robust discussion on several issues concerning the protection of lives and property, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure as well as combating oil pipeline vandalism amongst others in the state.
Commandant Eweka also reiterated that the history of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps cannot be separated from Lagos as “the Corps began in Lagos State as Lagos Civil Defence in 1967, before attaining the full – fledged status of a paramilitary organization by the Act of Parliament in 2003 and the Corps became more empowered by the Act of 2007 as amended,” he said. The Commandant demanded infrastructural and logistical support from the Lagos State Government, in order to ensure quality and better delivery of security services to the good people of the state.
The SSG also stated that the Government of Lagos State will do everything within its reach to ensure that the demands of the Command are looked into and attended to, in order to encourage the Corps to continue to deliver quality and better security services in the state.
