They say love is blind, but this case takes the cake. A lovesick man was recently bust for dressing up as a woman, for four days, so he could write his lover’s exams.
Khadim Mboup, a 22-year-old from Diourbel in Senegal, decided to take his girlfriend’s baccalaureate after realizing that she would probably fail.
Mboup’s girlfriend, 19-year-old Gangué Dioum, was supposed to be taking her high school graduation exams, but she’s reported to have been hopeless in English.
Motivated by his love for her, Mboup wore an elaborate female disguise and took the exams instead.
The fearless Mboup, who is a student at Gaston Berger University, would wear a long-hair wig that was partially covered with a traditional scarf as well as earrings, a dress, bra, and even make-up to pull off the disguise.
The plan had been a success for three days but his luck ran out on the fourth day when an invigilator, who had noticed something odd about the candidate, confronted Mboup and caught him.
The invigilator called the police, who arrested him. Following his arrest, he implicated his lover.
He led the authorities to the lodge, where she was anxiously waiting for him.
He confessed to the crime and told the authorities that he had done it for love.
“I acted out of love because my girlfriend had serious difficulties with the Englishman,” he said.
The two young lovers were both charged with forgery and examination fraud. If convicted, they risk being banned from participating in any national examination for five years. They also risk a hefty fine and imprisonment of up to five years.
