Dolores Aveiro, the mother of Cristiano Ronaldo, has said her son promised not to join Manchester City this summer.
The 36-year-old was heavily linked with a move to City, after he made up his mind to leave Juventus.
Pep Guardiola was interested in bringing in Ronaldo, after Sergio Aguero left the Etihad as a free agent to join Barcelona.
However, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United, 12 years after he left the club for Real Madrid.
His mother has now revealed the conversation they had about the Portugal captain’s future.
“On the TV there was talk of Manchester City, but he said to me ‘Mom, don’t worry about what they’re saying because I’m going to Manchester [United],” Aveiro said on the ADN de Leao podcast.
“I said I liked that a lot and he pleased me.”
