Zinedine Zidane, a former Real Madrid manager, has snubbed Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and named the Los Blancos striker, Karim Benzema, as the player that deserves to win the Ballon d’ Or this year.
Zidane described Benzema, who led France to win the UEFA Nations League last week, as an incredible player.
Benzema was nominated in the Ballon d’ Or 30-an nominees some few days ago.
The France international will battle Ronaldo, Paris Saint-Germain’sLionel Messi, Chelsea’s Jorginho, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and among others for the Ballon d’ Or this year.
“Benzema deserves the Ballon d’Or,” Zidane told Telefoot on Sunday morning.
“He’s an incredible player – I have had the great honour of managing him.
“He can do it all on a pitch. He’s a cut above – and I hope he will be rewarded for it with this Ballon d’Or.”
