Emmaunel Iwuanyanwu
Chief Emmaunel Iwuanyanwu has carpeted a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Raymond Dokpesi over his toxic comment on Igbo presidency in 2023.
Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman and member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) countered Dokpesi’s claims.
Dokpesi is the Chairman of Daar Communication Limited. He had asserted that Igbo will divide the country should there be allowed to produce the President of Nigeria.
Dokpesi also disclosed that some Nigerians believe that Nnamdi Kanu would force a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction to declare Biafra.
The PDP chieftain said the IPOB leader may use militant tactics to blackmail and force an Igbo President to declare South East independence.
He stressed that Kanu and IPOB have complicated the agitation of the Southeast to produce a Nigerian president.
Dokpesi, in a statement he issued on Monday, stressed his belief in a united and indivisible Nigeria.
Reacting through a statement forwarded to DAILY POST, on Saturday, Chief Iwuanyanwu, who doubles a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, described Dokpesi’s position on the quest of the Igbo nation to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023, as illogical and unfortunate.
He reminded Dokpesi that ndigbo are not desperate for the presidency to warrant the erroneous outbursts from him.
Iwuanyanwu also faulted the statement by the Edo-born politician and stated categorically that the people of Igbo nation had supported a united Nigeria practically, making investment all over the country.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo chieftain, asked people like Dokpesi to preach justice, equity and fairness which he stated was the cause of all the agitations in the country instead of spreading hatred.
The prominent Igbo leader, pointed out that elders should be able to talk truth to leaders so that they would be able to do what they could to unite Nigeria and make Nigeria a great nation.
According to Iwuanyanwu in the statement which partly stated, “What he said is just like somebody who says if you give the presidency to somebody from North-East or North-West that the people will break away because Boko Haram want to break away from Nigeria.
“Boko Haram has even conquered part of those places and occupied some local governments. There is no local government in South-East where you have everybody saying this is Biafra apart from the protest which stemmed from injustice and unfair treatment of Igbos in Nigeria.
“The truth is that there is problem all over the country, North-East and North-West you have the problem of Boko Haram and ISWAP and they have even come up in the Middle-belt.
“In the South-West, we have Oduduwa groups; in the South-East, we have pro-Biafra groups; South-South too have people agitating.
“So, the truth is that all patriotic Nigerians should come together, and do whatever we can to unite Nigeria, and you don’t do that by discriminating against any tribe”.
