AHEAD of the June 18 Ekiti State governorship elections, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has nominated a former Minister of Defence, Olusola Obada; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, and three other senior party members to serve on its Electoral Committee to conduct the Special State Congress.
The Special Congresses will be held at the state capital, Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, titled, ‘Ekiti State gubernatorial primary: electoral committee: (candidate nomination)’.
According to Bature, “The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has nominated the following party members to serve on the Electoral Committee to conduct the Special State Congress in Ekiti State. The Committee is mandated to elect our party’s governorship candidate for the upcoming election in Ekiti State.”
They include Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel as Chairman, former Minister of Defence, Olusola Obada, Michael Mku, Ibrahim Khalid and Toby Okechukwu as Secretary.
On January 20, 2022, The Punch reported that the PDP had established an appeals committee on Ekiti Governorship Primary Ward Congress, which took place on the same date at the NWC Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The Ward Congresses Electoral Appeal Committee included Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo as Chairman, Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo, Dr Kema Chikwe, Dr Esther Uduehi, Kingsley Chukwu, and Musa Elayo as Secretary.
