Nigerian students, both full-time and part-time, have been urged to apply for the $100,000 Chegg.org Global Student Prize organised by Varkey Foundation.
This call was made by an Ondo-born student, Oluwadamilola Akintewe, who was named a top 10 finalist for the inaugural prize in 2021.
Global Student Prize was established to create a powerful new platform to highlight the efforts of extraordinary students throughout the world that are making a real impact on learning, the lives of their peers and on society beyond.
As the application for this year’s prize commences today, Akintewe has urged fellow African students to apply.
The scholar said, “I am so grateful to have been selected as a top 10 finalist for the inaugural Global Student Prize and the platform that comes with it to continue to help change lives in Nigeria.
“I know I am not alone. There are now a generation of young changemakers across Nigeria that have the drive and imagination to transform our society for the better. They deserve huge praise for continuing to fight for their future during the pandemic and their incredible contributions deserve to be recognized and supported.
“This is why I am encouraging Nigerian students who have an inspiring story to tell to now apply for the Chegg.org Global Student Prize. After all, they will play a leading role in rebuilding our world.”
The prize is open to all students who are at least 16 years old and enrolled in an academic institution or training and skills program. Part-time students, as well as students enrolled in online courses, are also eligible for the prize.
