The Cross River State Police Command has received the five patrol vehicles promised by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba when he visited the command last week.
The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan had told the Inspector General of Police that the command lacked operational vehicles and needed some urgently.
Baba granted the request by promising the command ten vehicles, five to be received this week and another five in February.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, has confirmed the receipt of the vehicles.
“We have received the operational vehicles. They will be useful even during the elections,” she said.
It was gathered that the vehicles with armed policemen were seen on the streets of Calabar on Thursday in a show of force.
