A final year (spill over) student, Babangida Ahmad, from the Department of Library and Information Science, Bayero University Kano, is dead.
According to a statement by the University Deputy Registrar, Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, Ahmed died on Friday, January 28, 2022.
The deceased, who hailed from Misau town in Bauchi state, was said to have, in the early hours of Friday, collapsed in his hostel while preparing to go to mosque for the early morning prayer according to his roommates.
The statement partly read, “According to one of his colleagues, the late Ahmad went out of the room around 4:30am where he suddenly slumped and was not breathing with no sign of life even before rushing to the University Clinic in the campus.”
“He was said to have been brought in dead to the University Clinic.”
The statement said that prior to his death, the deceased had been visiting Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he had been seeing a doctor on a certain undisclosed ailment.
According to hospital records, he has been seen at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital about seven times within the last one year, with his last visit on the 10th of January, 2022.
Meanwhile, the University Management had taken the corpse to his home town for burial.
The Vice Chancellor, Sagir Abbas, had, on behalf of the University Management, condoled with the family and friends of the deceased and prayed Almighty Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
The late Babangida Ahmad was described as a very kind hearted, jovial and very friendly, who related well with his colleagues.
