The Ogun State Government says it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private information technology firm, AOA Windstream Limited, with the aim of increasing revenue from waste management.
The government said it had commenced the payment for waste products from industries and commercial outlets through e-payment, e-receipt system.
The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Environment, Ola Oresanya, said this at a press briefing held in Abeokuta.
Oresanya, who doubles as the chief executive officer of Ogun State Waste Management Authority, said the digitalisation process of waste management revenue would help the agency bring better service delivery to industries and commercial sub-sector in the state.
He said, “We are here today to flag off a well-thought-out partnership with private IT firm AOA Windstream Limited to deploy technology via electronic billing system as a catalyst to drive revenue generation from waste management in the state.
“This collaboration will bring to bear the development of vibrant, functional, interactive, suit for purpose and holistic electronic solution platform that possess capacity to address all issues relating to the whole gamut of billing system from the beginning to the end.
“The features of the election billing system, amongst others are, automate industrial/commercial waste management operations and payment system such as e-billing, e-payment, e-receipt, etc.; onboarding of new and existing clients and electronic database management of industries and commercial outlets to achieve better waste management.”
