No fewer than 25 suspected cultists have been rounded up by the Raid operatives of the Delta State Police Command.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects were arrested around 9pm on January 31, 2022, following a raid on a criminal hideout in the Agbor area of the state.
It was learnt that some of the suspects confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity and Junior Supreme Aiye Confraternity.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement in Warri on Thursday, said investigation was ongoing into the case.
Also, on Monday, around 9am, the Command Crack Surveillance team reportedly raided a black spot in Okwuchi Quarters, Eku, during which a 24-year-old man, Larry Onifon, was arrested.
Other suspects with Onifon reportedly took to their heels.
Police sources said exhibits recovered from him included 40 packets of 100mg tramadol, 89 wraps of Indian hemp, four sachets of swinol, three containers of Loud, and 55 wraps of a substance suspected to be cocaine.
Onifon allegedly told the police that the gang he belonged to was led by one of the fleeing suspects, identified as OBJ.
The PPRO confirmed that the suspect was in custody while a manhunt for the fleeing suspects was ongoing.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Ali, commended members of the public and other stakeholders for their support and partnership.
