Founder of Kunak Foundation, Bavoshia Nyan, has appealed to the Kaduna State Government to create a special centre for cancer patients were they would be provided with a supportive treatment.
Speaking shortly after a novelty match to commemorate the world cancer day in Kaduna, she noted that often times, cancer patients were left alone after diagnosis.
According to her, most cancer patients died because of financial burden and stigmatisation, not even from the cancer itself.
She said, “I am appealing to the Kaduna State Government to see the need to create a special centre for cancer patients in the State just like centres for Tuberclosis and HIV/AIDs patients.”
Nyan, who is a cancer survivor, said she knew the pain and understood the plights of a cancer patients, hence her plea to the government.
“I survived stomach cancer in 2020 and I am a survivor of stage 4 cancer today,” Nyan said.
She added that World Cancer Day was very significant to her foundation which availed her the opportunity to create awareness for cancer patients and to give them a message of hope that they can survive the dreaded disease.
