Governor Aminu Masari on Thursday appealed to residents of Katsina state to be more vigilant and expose criminals.
He also urged them to ensure that only credible people are allowed to settle down in their communities.
The governor made the appeal while commissioning the Community Conflict and Dispute Resolution Centres in Malumfashi and Funtua.
Masari said the current security challenges in the state had made it necessary for residents to be more vigilant and extra careful with who they want to accept into their communities as neighbours.
He nonetheless pledged that the state government would continue to do its best in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The governor, who spoke in Hausa during the commissioning, said the Conflict and Dispute Resolution Centres were established in various parts of the state to ensure a quicker dispensation of justice and promotion of peace among residents of the state.
He explained that similar centres’ establishment at Kwado and at Kambarawa within Katsina metropolis had begun to have positive results on their various communities
He enjoined residents to embrace the initiative, adding that the centres were established also for the benefit of the poor.
Katsina Chief Judge, Justice Musa Abubakar, earlier told the governor at Malumfashi that his target was to see to the establishment of the Conflict and Dispute Resolution Centres in all parts of the state.
He said such a step would bring Justice to the doorstep of the residents, especially the poor.
Justice Abubakar implored residents to support the centres, adding that the innovation would also assist in decongesting cases in the state’s courts.
