Katsina United relegation dogfight continues as they welcome high-flying Kwara United to Muhammadu Dikko Stadium for the match-day 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Saturday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
While the hosts have won only one of their last five league matches, losing out on three occasions, the Afonja Warriors have been able to gather 10 points from a possible 15, having won three, drawn one and lost one.
Katsina lost their last game away from home to Niger Tornadoes and will hope to bounce back from that defeat. While the visitors, who last time were victorious against Lobi Stars, and they look forward to continue with their impressive season performance, knowing that a win on Saturday will move them into the top four.
Kwara goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, told PUNCH Sports Extra said,”It’s going to be a tough game against a side fighting to ensure they stay in the league, but it has been a great season for us and we will continue to build on that.
“Our target is to ensure we pick up a slot to play on the continent next season and that’s why every game counts. We will not let our guards down but continue to improve. Katsina are good at home and they won their last game at home, so we know what awaits us, but this is NPFL and you have to be strong mentally heading into every game.”
A win for Katsina United who currently sit 18th on the log will move them to safety.
