One person has been recovered dead from the ruins of the building which collapsed in the Yaba area of Lagos State on Saturday.
The PUNCH had reported that a three-storey building on Akanbi Crescent, close to the University of Lagos, which was still under construction had collapsed.
About an hour after the collapse, our correspondent reports that first responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.
So far, it is still unclear the number of people trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building.
Confirming the development, LASEMA Director-General, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that the recovered person from the rubble was an adult male.
According to him, the emergency responders recovered the body following swift deployment of the agency’s heavy duty equipment.
He added that recovery operation was ongoing for other victims.
