A couple and their driver died in a road accident that occurred on Sunday, along the Benin-Ore-Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State.
Two people also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident which occurred near Ajebandele, outbound J4 area of Ijebu-East Local government area of the state.
The Public Relations Officer, of the Ogun state Traffic Road Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta.
According to Akinbiyi, the accident involved a Toyota Camry with registration No., APP 477 DY, and a Volkswagen, marked, KTU 923 AJ.
Akinbiyi explained that five persons, consisting of four males and one female were involved in the accident.
He attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving and route violation on the part of the Volkswagen driver, saying “The driver took one-way and collided with the Toyota Camry.”
The TRACE PRO added that the occupants of the Toyota Camry, comprising a husband, his wife, and their driver lost their lives.
Akinbiyi said, “The occupants of the Toyota Camry are reported to be coming from a party in Owo, Ondo State to Lagos State when the unfortunate incident happened.
“The two injured victims have been taken to J6 Clinic Center.
“While TRACE Corps commiserate with the victims, motorists are urged to avoid route violation as well as speeding, in view of its attendant consequences.”
