The Nigeria Young Professional Forum has called on Nigeria politicians to think of next generation and not next election.
The Chairman of NYPF and convener of Niger Delta Summit, Mr Moses Siasia made the called during the 2022 Second Niger Delta MSMEs Summit on Saturday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He said the summit tittled, “Stimulating MSMEs Growth Towards Post COVID-19 Recovery”, was to empowered youths to grow their businesses.
He said, “Nigeria should think of the next generation, what to hand over to them, and not just thinking about the next election.
“Nigeria politicians are now thinking about the next election but forget about the next generation. That’s why they are doing everything possible to remain in power without giving the younger generation a space.
“I want to urge our youths to venture into entrepreneur and grow it, and be useful to themselves because these set of older politicians are not ready to give us space in politics. Only way we can achieve it is economically breakthrough.
“Our aims is to touch the lives people in Niger Delta and to reshape the narrative of the youths about militancy and change the face of the region.”
He said five youths were given grant of N500,000 each while N10 million was donated to financial firm to grow their businesses.
In a goodwill message, the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board, represented by Dr. Amah Ikoro said the board would continue to support the youths of the region in growing MSMEs.
He thanked the Niger Delta professionals in strengthening capacity, advocacy and access to finance.
