Two persons have been crushed to death by a truck at More Junction in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The fatal accident occurred on Tuesday night when the two victims who were said to be travelling on a commercial motorcycle were crushed to death.
An eye witness told our correspondent that a motorcyclist was trying to manoeuvre around the major junction situated between Asero and the Car wash area when the truck ran over him and the passenger.
The source disclosed that a mob destroyed the vehicle and later set it ablaze, while the driver fled.
The source added that some other vehicles which were caught up in the melee were equally vandalised by the mob.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
Oyeyemi said the incident happened at 8pm on Tuesday and that the mob had set the trailer involved ablaze.
He said, “The incident occurred at 8pm on Tuesday. The command learnt that a trailer crushed two people travelling on an okada at the More Junction here in Abeokuta.
“The mob, we heard later, set the trailer ablaze. We are already investigating the incident.”
