The Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwqshi-Uku, Delta State, has frowned on indecent dressing among female students of the institution.
Our correspondent gathered that some female students were denied entry by security guards for not being properly dressed.
A student, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the enforcement started on Monday.
“But today, Thursday, took another dimension as some students were turned back from the gate.
“Honestly, the manner students dress to lecture room is bad, but the school should be decorous in doing this,” she added.
Speaking to our correspondent on Thursday in Asaba, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Manfred Oyibogbeye, said the school frowned on the rate of indecent dressing in the school.
He, however, denied that a policy was introduced on the matter.
Oyibogbeye said, “Every reasonable organisation should be conscious of the physical appearance of each worker or student as the case may be, especially where indecent dressing is the order of the day.
“We lay emphasis on indecent dressing; the institution seriously frowns on indecent dressing whether you are staff or students.
“Recently, the registrar of the institution addressed staff and was emphatic on the issue of dressing; we don’t welcome it here, we don’t encourage it.
“For now, the school is embarking on sensitisation; if you get to the gate, the security will ask you to go home and dress properly.”
He noted that stringent measures would soon be introduced to sanction defaulters.
