The Cross River State Police Command has alerted that people of doubtful agenda were moving into areas of the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and the Akpabuyo State Constituency bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022.
The police in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Irene Igbo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, said, “It is observed sadly that people of doubtful agenda are moving to the
areas of the bye-election for reasons unknown.
“In view of our desire for free, fair, and credible election, only voters whose polling units are involved will be allowed movement during the election.”
“The Command on behalf of all other security agencies reassures law abiding citizens of their security during the election.”
The statement titled, ‘Restriction of vehicular movement on election Day, Ogoja/Yala Federal and Akpabuyo State Constituencies bye-elections’, also warned those who were planning to foment trouble that they will face full consequences.
It said it is determined to maintain law and order during the bye-elections and to inform the general public that, there will be restriction of vehicular and other forms of movements.
“Additional measures are in place to curtail and deal with any undue act,” the statement read.
