The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency bye-election, Jude Ngaji, has been declared winner of the election conducted on Saturday.
He was declared winner on Sunday morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Ngaji defeated the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mike Usibe, with 22, 778 votes. The PDP candidate got 20,590 votes.
Also, the Akpabuyo State Constituency bye-election in Cross River State ended on Sunday morning, with PDP candidate taking the House of Assembly seat.
Ekeng Edet of the PDP defeated Bassey Effiom of the APC with 5,866. Effiom.
While declaring Ngaji as winner, the Returning Officer, John Eno, said the APC candidate had more votes than Usibe and was the elected representative of the Federal Constituency.
The Ogoja/Yala Federal seat became vacant after Agom Jarigbe, who was in the House of Representatives, was elected into the Senate last year.
The Akpabuyo State Constituency bye-election was necessitated by the vacuum created by the death of a member of the House of Assembly, Elizabeth Ironbar.
