No fewer than 22,000 persons had applied through online to work under the government of the incoming governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Soludo is expected to take over affairs of governance in the state on March 17.
The Media Asssistant to Soludo, Mr Joe Anatune, said applications received for jobs through the online talent hunt portal had clocked 22,000 as of Monday.
Anatune described the talent hunt platform as a kind of data bank designed by the state government to identify the sector each applicant would be fit in.
He said, ”This is not a one-off thing but a kind of employment bank or database from which applicants are engaged depending on the demand for such job specifications.”
But some members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state have reportedly condemned the recruitment method, stating that Soludo did not consult them before taking such decision.
The party members who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “Soludo’s online method of selecting those to work in his administration is not acceptable because it doesn’t justify his preparedness to be governor.
But the National Coordinator, APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang. Chinedu Obigwe, debunked the stories making the rounds that Soludo had jettisoned APGA members in his appointment plans.
In a statement in Awka, on Tuesday, Obigwe said the general public should disregard such insinuations.
He said, “I am saying it authoritatively that the report did not emanate from APGA stalwarts. It is important for me to now use this medium to tell the general public that Soludo is well prepared for the task of governing ndi Anambra and he is determined to do his best for them.
“He is not joking with any of his moves and nobody should take his directives for granted. One thing I discovered that the author of the report is labouring in vain to achieve is to sow a seed of discord between APGA faithfuls and Soludo but he has failed already.
As a matter of fact, APGA faithfuls are solidly behind Soludo and they are in support of whatever he wants to do in Anambra State. Soludo had a fruitful meeting recently with APGA State Working Committee and he used the opportunity of the meeting to discuss his plans for ndi Anambra.
“When you put the assurance of support and loyalty the State Working Committee of APGA gave Soludo in his recent meeting with them into consideration, you will agree with me that the person behind the report of “people condemning Soludo’s recruitment policy” is only making a mockery of himself with his fabricated tissue of lies that is aimed at portraying Soludo in bad light.
“My advice to the general public is that they should not allow themselves to be deceived and misled with planted news report that are politically motivated.”
