Ghana will be without the services of striker, Benjamin Tetteh, when they face Nigeria in their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers on March 25 and 29 in Cape Coast and Abuja while midfielder, Baba Iddrisu, is expected to make a return from injury.
Tetteh has been out of action since February 5 after suffering a muscle injury. He last featured for Malatyaspor in their 1-1 draw against Besiktas on February 1.
Tetteh was part of Ghana’s 28-man contingent to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and featured in two group games before being sent off for infamously punching a Gabon player after their 1-1 draw.
The 24-year-old has made five appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut in their 3-1 win against Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifying group phase game.
Tetteh, who plies his trade with Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig, has scored six goals and provided one assist in 16 games for the relegation threatened side this season.
However, there are more positive news for the Black Stars as midfielder Baba Iddrisu is expected to return to action this week and will be available for selection for the encounter.
The Real Mallorca star suffered a hamstring injury in Ghana’s second group game at the 2021 AFCON against Gabon.
According to reports on Ghanasoccernet, Iddrisu could play in Mallorca’s La Liga match against Real Sociedad on Wednesday (today) in a game that will be closely monitored by the Ghana coaching staff.
Iddrisu is a key member of the national team, and as long as he is fit, he walks straight into the starting lineup.
The 26-year-old has 14 appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut in 2019.
