The varsity students in Ondo State under the auspices of the National Association of University Students on Wednesday trooped out to stage a protest against the ongoing face-off between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government.
The ASUU has embarked on a month warning strike to press home their demands from the Federal Government.
During the protest, the Ondstudents blocked the busy Ibadan-Akure-Owo highway causing a traffic logjam for several hours, making the travellers to be stranded.
Some motorists had to take alternative routes to get to their various destination as the protesting students were chanting solidarity songs during the protest.
Speaking, one of the leaders of the protesters and former Student Union President of Federal University of Technology, Akure, Esedere Abraham, said the protest would continue until ASUU called off the strike action.
According to him, “students should not be made to suffer any problem between ASUU and the Federal Government.”
