AKWA Ibom State House of Assembly said it has received a N45 billion supplementary budget from Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The budget which was received via a letter from the governor is made up of N41bn recurrent and N4bn capital expenditure .
The bill is titled, ‘A Law to make Supplementary Provision for the Service of Akwa Ibom State Government for the year ending on 31st December, 2022.’

According to the statement made available to our correspondent in Uyo, the House Leader, Udo Akpam, said “The state Accountant-General may, when authorized so to do by warrants issued by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, in addition to the sums provided for in section 1 of the Appropriation Law, 2022, pay of warrants not exceeding N41bn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and N4bn from the Capital Development Fund.”
Speaking further, the House Leader said the bill sought to “make an increase in the budget size of the state that was passed last year from N586bn to N631bn, an increase of N45bn from when it was approved last year.”
He explained that the bill also sought to complete some projects in the state, noting that the governor was determined to complete the stated projects.
Akpan explained that the fund was required for completion of the airport projects, the dualisation of roads in Etinan and Oruk Anam Local Government Areas and for other projects across the state.
The lawmaker, however, appealed to his colleagues to give the bill the attention it deserved so that the budget can be passed speedily.
Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary till Monday.
