A 28-year-old man, accused of armed robbery, has been remanded in Kikiri Correctional Centre by a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
The man, Anachuna, was remanded on Monday following his alleged involvement in a case of armed robbery.
The accused, who is a resident at Mile 2, Lagos, is facing two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery. However, when arraigned, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Anachuna was ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by Justice Yetunde Adesanya, who, subsequently, adjourned the case till June 14 for continuation of trial.
According to the State Counsel, Mr. Olayemi Shofolu, the defendant committed the offences with some others, who are at large. The offense was committed on May 26, 2018, at 6:20 pm along Kirikiri Road, Apapa, Lagos, he told the court.
He claimed that the defendant had robbed one Mr. Nnamdi Ezedialo of his belongings at gunpoint.
“Anachuna and his accomplices robbed the complainant of N72,000 cash, two mobile phones, an Infinix Hot 2 and a Tecno phone, all valued at N52,500.
“The victim was on his way from work when the defendant dispossessed him of his belongings while holding a pistol,” the state prosecutor said.
“The offences contravened Sections 297 (2) (a) and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” Shofolu said.
