Okogbule said the approval would help to shore up the manpower base of the university.
While reeling some of his achievements in office, Okogbule pledged continued support to staff going for conferences, as part of their personal development.
“We have secured approval for the employment of academic and non-academic staff. That process is ongoing to get new hands.
“And I want to specially thank His Excellency, the Governor, for graciously giving that approval” he stated.
On some of his achievements in the last two years, he said, “The establishment of Rivers State University Business School, the successful accreditation of the Medical College by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria leading to the commencement of clinical training for our medical students.
“Enhanced security on campus, creation of new faculties: Faculty of Entrepreneurial Studies and Faculty of Mass Communication,” among others.
He promise to continue to run an inclusive government, where, according to him, ideas, suggestions and inputs of all will be taken into account in decision making.
The VC solicited the support of staff in the efforts to move the institution to greater heights; even as he thanked the governor for finding him worthy to be appointed as the Vice Chancellor.
