In a statement posted to her Facebook page Thursday, Ojukwu said, “It’s Liberation Day, and today we sing the Redemption Song. Anambra will be better!”
She described the inauguration of the new governor as “the long awaited return to the promised land,” calling the day “a day that reaffirms the age long truth that no-one holds the stage forever.”
“I used to wonder….But now I know.
“Now I know just how those Israelites felt on the day they took those tentative first steps out of the land of Egypt….Just the sheer excitement and anticipation of liberation, the long awaited return to the promised land must have kept them awake through that night.
“This is the Day the Lord has made…a day that reaffirms the age long truth that no-one holds the stage forever. I thank the Almighty for keeping us all alive to witness this day.
“To Him be the glory.
“It was long in coming, but it’s finally here…
“A more dynamic and progressive Anambra is achievable.
“Yes indeed….WE ARE THE BARRACKS!” she wrote.
The PUNCH reported that a fight ensued between the wife of the outgoing governor of the state, Ebelechukwu Obiano, and Bianca Ojukwu at the inauguration of the new governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
The PUNCH recalled that there had been reported age-long rancour between the families of Obiano and Ojukwu in times past.
In the build up to the November 2021 governorship elections, the wife of the late Ikemba and ex-governor Willie Obiano were reportedly engaged war of words.
Ojukwu had accused Obiano of saying her husband was no longer relevant to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, which informed her absence from the party’s campaign inauguration.
The PUNCH also reported that Ojukwu described APGA as a secret court, blaming Obiano for its dwindling fortunes.
A war of words also reportedly ensued between Ojukwu and ex-governor Obiano’s wife over the absence of the ex-governor at the Ikemba’s posthumous birthday celebration in 2019.
Immediately after the oath of office for Soludo had been administered, Ebelechukwu Obiano reportedly walked up to Bianca Ojukwu where she was seated, and a fight ensued between them.
It was not certain what led to the excitement of Ojukwu about the inauguration of Soludo, as expressed on her Facebook page, or the fight between her and ex-governor Obiano’s wife as of the time of filing this report.
