Explosives planted by members of the Boko Haram terrorists have been detected by security operatives in Niger State.
This was disclosed on Saturday by the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, who said newly planted explosives have been detected in Galadima-Kogo, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
He further stated that men of the anti-bomb squad were working assiduously to detonate the already planted devices to avoid explosions in the community.
Bello who assured the Internally Displaces Persons that they will soon return to their homes.
He expressed frustration at the activities of informants among residents who give out information to the terrorists.
The governor revealed that some informants have been arrested by security agencies and are undergoing interrogation.
“Many informants have been arrested by security operatives in the state in the last few weeks and would be severely dealt with after investigations,” he said.
Bello added that the state had received additional security operatives adding that men of the Niger State Vigilante Corps were being trained to operate with modern fighting equipment.
