THE Chairman, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Mr Michael Diden, popularly called Ejele has reportedly escaped being lynched allegedly by youths in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened on Saturday in Burutu during a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the party primaries over his senatorial ambition.
Ejele who is also the Chairman, Delta Political Vanguard, had on March 19, 2022, endorsed an aspirant against the Ijaws aspirant.
The purported endorsement of what they called ‘the anointed aspirant of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’ for governor allegedly angered stakeholders of Ijaws.
Sources present at the meeting said trouble started when some youth leaders, Tamar Forteta, Ayapaye Brendan and Ebi Agbor raised their hands to ask him (Ejele) if he would support an Ijaw son to be governor, since he is aspiring to take over the seat from Ijaw people currently holding Senate seat.
“The youth were not given the opportunity to speak, so they turned the meeting to a war zone, forcing Ejele to take to his heels.
“I can authoritatively tell you that the meeting ended in a free for all and also abruptly” a source, said.
Another source, who did not want his name in print, said it took the intervention of stakeholders to rescue Ejele, from the hands of the angry youths who were bent on causing mayhem.
But PDP Chairman in Burutu said “Ejele was not attacked rather one of the angry youth was bent on asking questions at the end of the meeting but coordinator of the meeting refused to take his questions”
