The Chairman, All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, on Wednesday, formally handed over the party’s leadership to the newly elected chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Before the last Saturday’s APC National Convention, Buni, who is the Yobe State Governor, had been saddled with the responsibility of piloting affairs of the party as caretaker chairman for more than 20 months.
72 hours after being sworn in as APC chairman, Adamu assumed office at Buhari House, the party’s National Secretariat, after the formal handover by Buni in a brief ceremony at the National Working Committee Hall of the secretariat.
Adamu, who stormed the premises at about 11:30 am alongside members of the NWC, was received by a waiting crowd of supporters.
Our correspondent who was on the ground observed that the new party chief went into a meeting immediately after he arrived.
This would be his first visit to the party’s base after his emergence as chairman.
